SimCity out on Mac in June, free to those who have PC version - and vice versa
Cross-platform play between PC and Mac supported.
The Mac version of SimCity launches on 11th June, EA has announced.
If you already own the PC version you get the Mac version free - and vice versa.
Otherwise, you can pre-purchase the Mac version on Origin from 10th April. It will launch as a download-only, from Origin. The Standard and Digital Deluxe versions are available for Mac.
EA said Maxis, the developer of the PC version, is not producing the Mac port, but has created a native version that has been optimised for Mac OS.
Elsewhere, EA confirmed SimCity supports cross-platform play between PC and Mac users - all players play together on the same servers. You'll also be able to play cities created using the PC version with the Mac version if you log in to the same server you created it on.
Owners of the PC version will find the Mac version in Origin, under the "My Games" page. From there, hover over SimCity and click the info button to see SimCity on Mac in the "Add-ons & Bonuses" section. You can download and play it from 11th June.
In terms of specs, you'll need LION OSX 10.7.5 and a Core 2 processor to play. The Mac version has the same features as the PC version. EA is yet to decide whether it will have Retina display support.
