SingStore PS3 pricing unveiled
A quid a track. Loads at launch.
Sony says that songs bought through SingStar PS3's online "SingStore" will cost GBP 0.99 / EUR 1.49 each when the service launches alongside the game on 7th December.
The game itself features 30 new songs, but the SingStore will offer 44 additional downloadable tracks, including some from existing PS2 SingStar titles and some new ones (Manic Street Preachers, Zutons and Depeche Mode are mentioned).
You'll be able to buy the main game on Blu-ray for GBP 24.99 standalone or GBP 49.99 with a pair of microphones, and the online integration of the SingStore will not only allow you to add downloadable songs to your repertoire and customise playlists without leaving the game, but will also download songs as you play rather than forcing you to wait, which is quite nifty.
Sony promises that new material will be added to SingStore regularly, with an additional burst of content expected on 17th December, just over a week after the game goes on sale.
Other online features include the facility to upload photos (taken with PlayStation Eye "and many other USB cameras"), videos and performances to My SingStar Online, with efforts visible through www.singstargame.com, which also lets you do things like rate performances.
Reviews of the fully online-enabled version are expected to hit in the coming fortnight, so keep an eye out for our assessment of what was once billed as a PS3 launch title and should still be well worth the wait. Providing you like getting drunk and making a tit of yourself.
