SOE MMOs now on Steam for cheap
EverQuest I and II, Vanguard, Pirates.
Valve and Sony Online Entertainment have linked arms to bring some of the MMO operator's games to Steam.
EverQuest and EverQuest II, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and Pirates of the Burning Sea are the chosen few from SOE's bulging catalogue of massively multiplayer games. There's no word yet whether Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside and The Matrix Online will be joining them.
The games are being offered at a special price for the next week: in the UK, they're priced at GBP 5.99 each, with 30 days' play included for new accounts. The standard price is a hardly ruinous GBP 7.99.
Note, however, that the EverQuest games come in bundles that include all but the latest expansions. EverQuest: Seeds of Destruction and EverQuest II: The Shadow Odyssey are also available at GBP 19.99.
The SOE games join EVE Online and Age of Conan as the first MMOs to make use of the download service.
"We are always looking for additional ways to introduce our great catalogue of games to new audiences. It's hard to think of a larger group of PC gamers interested in multiplayer games than those connecting to Steam," said SOE boss John Smedley. He has a point.
