Sony has lifted the lid on Payday: The Heist, a co-op first person shooter for PC and PlayStation Network.

Developed by new Swedish studio Overkill Software, the game puts you in the shoes of a hardened career criminal as he goes about his nine-to-five.

There are six high-stakes heists to pull-off, including banks robberies, prisoner extractions and armored car hijackings. Three partners in crime will be watching your back, controllable either by friends or AI.

You will need choose from one of three specialities - assault, sharpshooter or support - and level up your abilities and pick up new weapons as you progress.

Former Grin boss and current Overkill CEO Bo Andersson promised "Dynamic environments, adaptive enemy behavior, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling down on ropes through the skylights, SWAT teams crashing through the windows and special units crawling through the ventilation shafts," in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

No news of a release date, but a full reveal is expected at E3. In the meantime, whet your appetite with the screenshot gallery below.
