Sony investigating PS Plus issue with Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

UPDATE: Problems remain, but there's a workaround.

UPDATE 2ND NOVEMBER: The issue preventing people picking up Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, for free, as part of their PlayStation Plus November membership, still remains.

Sony has tweeted a workaround that involves using the PlayStation Store website. Log in and click on the Everybody's Gone to the Rapture promo image on the Store's front page, or search for it. Then click the Wishlist heart. If you click to go through to the gamepage you will encounter the "this item isn't available right now" error.

But if you add it to your Wishlist, and then go to your Wishlist, you can Add to Basket direct from there. Then View Basket, Proceed to Checkout, Order & Pay (nothing), then Download to PS4 from your Download List.

Find the game in a list and click the little heart Wishlist icon.
You'll be prompted to view your Wishlist. Follow the Add to Basket trail from there.

ORIGINAL STORY 1ST NOVEMBER: Yes, there's an issue redeeming Everybody's Gone to the Rapture as the free PlayStation Plus game this month.

The game's developer, The Chinese Room, shared the error message some European PS Plus members have been getting from the PS Store. The message says the item isn't available right now and to try choosing something else.

PlayStation Europe followed up with a tweet of its own, saying it was aware of the issue and was investigating.

We'll keep you posted with any updates.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is by far the star attraction of PS Plus this month. It's barely a year old, and was the high point of last summer. It's a beautiful, and relatively short, investigation of a quaint English village after some kind of world-ending event. Everybody has disappeared.
