Spider-Man Financial Shock - how to beat the Shocker boss fight

Head to the waypoint outside the freshly broken-into bank when the mission Financial Shock starts, and after a brief cutscene you'll be thrown pretty much straight into the boss fight.

It's a fairly classic boss battle: Shocker has a set rotation of moves that he uses, with telegraphed attacks and moments of vulnerability, which then progress to increasingly difficult and complex sequences.

First up, Shocker rotates between two attack types: a ranged attack, which he charges up with a ball of energy around him and then fires in a straight line, and a charge attack which sees him leap towards you and let out a big pulse of energy around him.

Dodge the ranged attacks and then after a couple he'll dive in for the charged attack - it's that attack which leaves him vulnerable for a few moments afterwards, where you need to unload as much damage as possible, ideally by grabbing some of the debris lying by and throwing it at him with L1 and R1.

He'll continue with the ranged attacks again, and if you're quick you can land another hit on him by throwing debris, then pressing Triangle when prompted to zoom in and lay down a combo.

He'll do some more ranged attacks, then another big charged pulse attack again, which is another opening for you to plonk some rubble on his head and Triangle in for another combo.

Rinse and repeat and soon you'll reach a small cutscene, where Spidey webs up Shockers hands and strings him up - only for Herman to break back out again and attack more fiercly.

He now has a new attack - jumping up and landing to send out a sort of earthquake shockwave, which damages you if you stay on the ground. Quickly jump and press R2 to web swing when you see him jump up himself for the attack.

After he does that attack he'll be vulnerable for a few seconds again, so lob some more rocks at him and dive in for a combo once more.

Keep swinging around the room as he fires ranged attacks at you and wait for another jump and smash earthquake, where you can swoop down for a few more attacks until, eventually, you land one final combo that takes you to another cutscene.

There are two quick time events (QTEs) here, where you need to grab one of the pillars on the ceiling with L1 and R1, then repeatedly and quickly press Square when prompted to bring the roof crashing down on him, ending the battle.

With that, you're done! Remember the general tips of combat as you go, like pressing Down on the D-pad to heal when needed and stay as mobile as you possibly can, and you should do fine. All in all if you don't die, the battle itself is only about five minutes long.

With Shocker down it's on to more standard Spidey missions, but cycle back to our main Spider-Man walkthrough and guide hub for more boss fight guides as you progress, as well as plenty of individual pages on resources, puzzle solutions, collectibles and more.
