EA has announced a demo for Spore, the new evolutionary sim from Will Wright, will be available for download this summer.

It'll let you try out the Spore Creature Creator. You'll be able to design your own life form using 25 per cent of the body parts in the full game, and show off what you've done via seamless uploads to YouTube. The demo will be available for download from Spore.com and will ship in the SimCity Box, out on June 23rd.

If you're really keen, you'll be able to buy a full version of the Creature Creator - complete with access to all the body parts - for USD 9.99 / EUR 9.99. It'll be available on the same day as the free demo, June 17th. Any creatures you design, using either the demo or complete Creator, can be imported into the full game. It's out on September 5th in Europe.

"We are thrilled to finally be putting the creative tools of Spore into the hands of players around the world," said Will Wright. "The amazing creations players design this summer will help populate the game universe we all enter when Spore ships this September, so in a sense, the Spore Creature Creator is the birth of Spore."
