SSFIV AE confirmed for consoles, PC
As DLC and retail release.
Capcom has confirmed the launch of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition for home consoles and PC.
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the Arcade Edition launch as downloadable content on 7th June for those who own Super Street Fighter IV, and as a full retail game with all the content included on 24th June.
It costs 1200 MS points or £11.99 / €14.99 / $14.99. The retail version is yet to be priced.
AE adds four new characters: Evil Ryu, Oni, Yun and Yang, and rebalances the roster.
It also upgrades the online portion of the fighting game, adding enhanced replays and an Elite Channel.
The Elite Channel allows players to follow up to five high ranked players (3000PP or more) at the same time and view their replays. You could use this feature to, for example, watch the replays of Street Fighter world champion Daigo.
During online fights the game now displays player stats, so you know exactly how strong your opponent is while you're fighting.
Also added is Enhanced Endless Battle and My Channel Advanced, which sends replays to people on your friends list.
A free upgrade kit will be made available to download for Super Street Fighter IV players, enabling matchmaking between the original and the Arcade Edition.
When SSFIV players play against AE players, SSFIV rules take precedence for battles with new characters.
"After the release of Super Street Fighter IV last April, we got a lot of requests and comments from fans and users," producer Yoshinori Ono said at Capcom's Captivate event last week. "We're going to do our best in Arcade Edition to answer all those requests and give people the features they want."
Meanwhile, Capcom announced the launch of SSFIV AE on the PC this summer, despite Ono's previous concern surrounding piracy.
Four million copies of the Street Fighter IV series have shipped.
