Star Wars Episode I: Racer remaster gets another delay on Switch and PS4

UPDATE: Green light next week.

UPDATE 16/6/20: After a couple of delays, Star Wars Episode I: Racer is finally due for launch on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 next week, on Tuesday 23rd June.

"ATTN Star Wars Episode l: Racer Fans!!! We are slated to release on both Nintendo Switch and PS4 on 23rd June," developer Aspyr told Nintendo Life today. "Thank you for your continued support, .gifs, and kind comments as we've worked on this release. We'll see you on the racetracks."

ORIGINAL STORY 11/5/20: Aspyr Media's PlayStation 4 and Switch remaster of Star Wars Episode I: Racer has been delayed again, this time with no new launch date given.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer, which originally released for PC and N64 back in 1999, took the Phantom Menace's podracing sequence and turned it into a rock-solid arcade racer, featuring familiar characters and tracks set across the likes of Tatooine and Baroonda.

When the spruced up edition of Star Wars Episode I: Racer - which adds the likes of enhanced visuals and remapped controls to the original experience - was announced last month, it was expected to launch tomorrow, 12th May. However, Aspyr later made the decision to delay the PlayStation 4 version of the game until 26th May for unspecified reasons.

Now, in a statement posted to Twitter, the developer has announced another delay - this time affecting Switch as well as PS4 - which it has blamed on the "ongoing work from home requirements across the industry". Aspyr hasn't offered another revised release date just yet, but says it will "be back with an update as soon as possible."
