Super Meat Boy Wii U version due "very, very soon"

Porkface.

Brilliant indie platformer Super Meat Boy is finally set to launch on Wii U.

Despite their similarities, Super Meat Boy is not where Martin got his Porkface nickname. We wish it was.

Nintendo fans will get the game "very very very soon", Super Meat Boy co-creator Tommy Refenes posted to Twitter last night.

Experienced port house BlitWorks is handling the conversion, for release within the next couple of months.

Super Meat Boy originally launched for Xbox 360 back in 2010. PC, Mac and Linux ports swiftly followed.

PlayStation 4 and Vita versions then arrived last autumn, with a hint that Wii U owners would not be forgotten, either.

Its eventual release will mark the end of a long, long journey to get Super Meat Boy on a Nintendo platform. The game was once set to debut on Wii, via the console's downloadable WiiWare platform, but Nintendo restrictions on game size lead to the version being delayed and ultimately dropped.

A full blown sequel, Super Meat Boy: Forever, is also in development.
