Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will give Pokémon players a neat freebie
Unova one for the collection.
Eevee for Smash? Not quite - but the true star of Pokémon Let's Go is due to make some sort of debut in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
If you have a Pokémon Let's Go save on your Switch, Nintendo is giving you a little Christmas bonus, as you'll be able to claim either a Pikachu or Eevee partner spirit when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases on 7th December.
Spirits are a new addition to Smash, and function in a similar manner to the old sticker system from Smash Bros. Brawl. They work as behind-the-scenes stat boosts, and are split into two types: primary (which raises attack power) and support (which provide protection and special abilities). You can acquire one of the many spirits by winning spirit battles, and they can be levelled up in a gym or with food. Huh, that sure sounds familiar.
Pikachu and Eevee are due to be support types, with the electric mouse slightly increasing attack and speed, and the Pokémon-that-can't-decide-what-it-is greatly boosting attack, defence and (what looks like) move speed after eating. I also require copious amounts of food to function properly. Eevee is just so relatable.
If you don't have Pokémon Let's Go, you'll still be able to claim the spirits for yourself - but you'll need to complete some challenges to do so (according to Nintendo's Australasian Twitter account). It's still not entirely clear how many of these you'll have to complete, but with the game set to release in a few days, you shouldn't have to wait much longer to find out. Who knows, it might even be leaked first.
