SWTOR "/getdown" dance exploit patch tomorrow
BioWare promises updates "almost every week".
A patch to fix the fabulous SWTOR "/getdown" dance exploit is in testing now, BioWare has revealed - and will be rolled out tomorrow morning.
The patch rectifies two problems: one causing in-game chat channels to stop functioning for some players; the other "preventing social emotes (like /getdown) from interfering with combat".
"We're currently testing this patch, and we hope to have it deploy sometime in the early hours of the morning tomorrow (CST)," wrote BioWare on the SWTOR website.
"But if we experience any issues with this patch, we may hold off its deployment until tomorrow night."
CST, central standard time, is six hours behind UK time (GMT). Expect this small patch - presumably to be known as 1.0.2b - tomorrow breakfast time at the earliest.
BioWare recently fixed an issue causing a client crash at the character selection screen, in patch 1.0.2a.
These tiny patches follow the more considerable 1.0.2 update, which was released yesterday - full patch notes below.
Game director James Ohlen revealed that SWTOR could receive a new patch "almost every week". These frequent alterations will be "almost entirely" to address bug, exploit and "minor" balance issues.
"These issues are the highest priority items at the studio," Ohlen declared on the SWTOR website. "They are reviewed by senior leadership on a daily basis.
"Bug fixes usually take longer than a week to get into the game because we need to fix the issue and then test the fix. Some bugs take longer than that because of the complexity of the issue.
"There are issues that we will fix immediately," he stated. "These are rare and not every issue can be fixed in this manner. We usually reserve these 'emergency fixes' for bugs that are stopping players from playing the game or to exploits that could unbalance the entire game if not corrected."
