Take a first look at PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' 4x4 map
The new arena has a "Southeast Asia feel".
A first look at PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' upcoming 4x4 map was revealed at this year's Game Development Conference.
Creator Brendan Greene showed attendees a brief video of the map as part of the game's postmortem talk, providing a first glimpse of the map's in-game overhead view and an assortment of buildings, saying it had a "Southeast Asia feel".
"It's a much smaller map, much more uniform," Greene said. "This is very early, so forgive, but I'm looking forward to it because it's going to be much more intense."No more information was supplied, but developer Bluehole has previously said the smaller map will offer an "intense and faster paced Battle Royale experience".
The map is one of two new arenas coming to the game, the other being more traditionally sized 8x8 map as part of the game's upcoming roadmap.
This other map (or the third 8x8 map coming to the game) wasn't discussed at the talk, though Bluehole has previously said it wants players "to get this into your hands early in its development".
It's been a busy week for the game, launching emotes and a Fortnite-style event mode on PC, as well as a new performance patch on Xbox.
