The first post-Kojima Metal Gear is a co-op survival game set in an alternate reality
Really.
Konami has announced the next Metal Gear game.
Metal Gear Survive is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam in 2017. It's the first game in the series following Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima's exit from the company.
Konami describes Survive as a brand new four-player co-op stealth game "that takes a divergent look" at familiar Metal Gear themes.
It has stealth elements but within "a unique co-op setting" designed for multiplayer.
Story wise, it's set after the ending of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, in an "alternate timeline caused by unexplained wormholes forming in the sky".
Survive is set on a distorted desert landscape "full of massive half-formed structures, living biological threats, and the remains of a once strong military force now litter the landscape".
Here's the official trailer.
It's a bit different, isn't it? Here's the official blurb to go with it:
