Good news for Darksiders fans: publisher THQ has confirmed a sequel is in development. Bad news for Darksiders fans: it wont be out until 2012 at the earliest.

Speaking at an investor call, CEO Brian Farrell announced, "For fiscal 2013 we plan to release a sequel to our critically acclaimed Darksiders game and will be unveiling more details about Darksiders 2 in the future."

For those unfamiliar with the concept of a fiscal year, that means you'll be playing it at some point between 1st April 2012 and 31st March 2013.

Given THQ's recent penchant for delaying games, we wouldn't scribble down 2013 in permanent ink either.

The first Darksiders game launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in January. Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell gave it a sturdy 8/10.

Darksiders 2 joins Devil's Third and the Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium MMO on THQ's slate for FY2013.
