THQ teams up with Left 4 Dead dev
Turtle Rock working on ambitious new FPS.
THQ has signed up Left 4 Dead co-developer Turtle Rock Studios for a new multiplayer shooter due for release in 2013.
There's no word on exactly what form the game will take or what platforms it will launch on, but the developer, who also helped Valve out with Counterstrike: Source, promises something big and bold.
"This project is the most ambitious thing we've ever attempted, and we're inspired by the support THQ has shown to help us realise that vision," said COO Phil Robb.
"We're going to take the first person shooter experience to a whole new level, and we can't wait to show the game for the first time in the months ahead."
THQ has ruled out an E3 reveal for the game.
It's the latest in a long line of high profile deals from THQ. In the past 12 months it's announced new projects with Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro and former Team Ninja boss Tomonobu Itagaki, and hired Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Desilets to run its new Montreal studio.
"Our quest to sign the best artists and work with the best talent continues," commented THQ exec Danny Bilson.
"Turtle Rock Studios is responsible for one of the most original, critically acclaimed co-operative games of this generation, and we are incredibly excited to be working with them on their next project, which looks set to make a similar impact in the multiplayer space."
