Tom Clancy plane game gets name
HAWX eyes online success.
Ubisoft has decided to call its new air combat title Tom Clancy's HAWX.
This is the Top Gun-like game announced last year for PS3, 360 and PC. It will be developed by the Bucharest Studio in, well, Romania.
Judging by the first media from IGN, it will all look quite similar to the GRAW series. Central to its boasts are jump-in co-operative campaign play for up to four of you, as well as 16-player online battles that reward experience points and cash to splash on new bombs and missiles and windscreen dice.
HAWX, which apparently stands for High Altitude Warfare X, takes place in 2012, when private military companies run the show.
Your flashy planes will have Enhanced Reality Systems that will act like stabilisers and do all sorts like detect missiles, stop you crashing, limit damage, offer a tactical map and information, alter weapons trajectory and let you order your squad around.
Beginners might like full assistance, while the Mavericks among you will enjoy increased freedom without it on.
Tom Clancy's HAWX is due out this autumn.
