Trion's fantasy MMO changes name
Now Rift: Planes of Telara, due 2011.
Trion's fantasy MMO Heroes of Telara has changed name. From here on the game will be known as Rift: Planes of Telara. It's due on PC next year.
Rifts are a cornerstone of the game; when triggered they are doors to other worlds (planes), through which beings will pass and invade. But rifts also present great opportunities to adventurers, offering loot, new characters and events.
Trion hopes these rifts will lend Telara an air of dynamism and fill the world with "thousands of unexpected" encounters. "Rift's dynamic layered content redefines the meaning of a living, breathing online world," claims the company blurb.
There will be several races to choose from and a class system that promises hundreds of combinations and "nearly limitless" possibilities. And there will be the requisite two factions to align with: either the good Guardians or the reckless Defiants. Player-versus-player combat will feature.
