Twitch accounts have been compromised
UPDATE: Clarifies no full credit card numbers were obtained.
UPDATE 03/23/2015 10.13pm Twitch has confirmed that users' credit card info is safe.
In a customer e-mail sent to our own Wesley Yin-Poole, the company stated, "Twitch does not store or process full credit or debit card information, so your card number is safe."
As far as what was compromised, Twitch said this could potentially include, "your Twitch username and associated email address, your password (which was cryptographically protected), the last IP address you logged in from, limited credit card information (card type, truncated card number and expiration date), and any of the following if you provided it to us: first and last name, phone number, address, and date of birth."
ORIGINAL STORY 03/23/2015 8.37pm Popular streaming service Twitch has had its user accounts compromised.
"There may have been unauthorised access to some Twitch user account information," the company said on its official blog.
"For your protection, we have expired passwords and stream keys and have disconnected accounts from Twitter and YouTube. As a result, you will be prompted to create a new password the next time you attempt to log into your Twitch account."
Twitch also recommended users change their passwords at any site where they use the same login info. The company said it "will communicate directly with affected users with additional details."
Twitch declined to comment on the matter further than what's posted on the blog.
