Ubisoft creating dedicated Assassin's Creed 3 DLC dev team
"We know you're familiar with the 'Season Pass' concept."
Ubisoft is creating a "complementary development team" devoted to pumping out Assassin's Creed 3 DLC, a new report suggests.
The studio will be responsible for tackling "post-launch episodic content" for the historical stabathon.
"We are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content to continue the Game of the Year experience that Assassin's Creed 3 will undoubtedly deliver," read a message from Ubisoft to US retailer Gamestop (posted online by Kotaku).
"With a dedicated team specifically to this content [sic] we plan to set the bar for quality DLC in our industry."
The note was distributed to GameStop outlets with an Assassin's Creed necklace, and thanked the chain for securing unspecified "pre-order goals".
"We know you're familiar with the 'Season Pass' concept," the message continued, "and, beginning shortly, we'll start to take pre-orders of our very own. We'd love your continued assistance in informing pre-order customers that a better value is available for those who pre-order Assassin's Creed with the 'Season Pass'."
The existence of a DLC Season Pass - a first for the series - was spotted in leaked product descriptions last month.
"Extend your Assassin's Creed experience with a Season Pass that gives you full access to all additional DLC upon release, including an exclusive discount on all upcoming digital content, additional single-player missions and additional multiplayer packages," a product description read.
Eurogamer has contacted Ubisoft for comment on the report. We'll update if we hear back.
