Unreal PS3 next year - Rein
But out before Xmas in US.
Epic boss Mark Rein has confirmed that the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will not be out in Europe this side of Christmas.
Word came from a statement on the official forums, revealing that the North American offering had been cleared by Sony and would be out before the end of the year.
"We got news last night that Unreal Tournament 3 has been approved by SCEA and has been released to North American manufacturing," Rein stated.
"My guess is that Midway will start shipping the title to North American retailers on Monday December 10 and it could show up in stores as early as December 11, but more likely toward the middle of that week."
However, it doesn't look like the game will make it over here until 2008.
"For PAL territories, specifically UK and Europe, we have a few localisation-related tasks to complete and then we should be starting the certification process pretty soon," continued Rein. "My best guess is early next year (January or February) for the game to ship over there."
The PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 was originally due to be released alongside the PC version sometime this month, making it a console exclusive until the end of the year. A 360 offering is in the works for 2008.
However, due to certification and development hold-ups it missed a simultaneous launch and Rein would only offer that Epic was working as hard as it could to release the game before Christmas.
Good news for some, then.
