Video: Resident Evil HD - what still works and what doesn't
Keep the ink ribbons, lose the doors.
It's been 19 years since we first set foot in Spencer Mansion, and 13 since we returned for a GameCube remake of the original PlayStation game. Now, in 2015, we're back there once again, for - stay with me - a HD re-release of that remake.
But the Resident Evil series has, of course, changed almost beyond recognition since that initial encounter. Should Capcom have gone a little further with this reimagining? If Shinji Mikami were making the game today, what would it look like? Is there any place for a restrictive save system or loading door animations or Jill sandwiches in modern gaming? Sadly, it's a no on that last one.
