Videos of AWOL Kinect game Crimson Dragon, spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon, emerge
After demo accidentally published on Xbox Live Japan.
Videos of Kinect exclusive Crimson Dragon, the spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon, have emerged after a demo of the game was published on and subsequently pulled from Xbox Live Marketplace in Japan.
The demo is the same shown at PAX East 2012, so the content has been seen before. However, this is the first time high quality direct feed footage of the build has been shown.
Crimson Dragon, in development at Japanese studio Grounding Inc., was once due out in June 2012 but was delayed without explanation by Microsoft. Panzer Dragoon creator Yukio Futatsugi is involved.
It was announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2010 during a Microsoft press conference that unveiled a raft of Japan-made Xbox 360 exclusives.
As part of an investigation into Why Xbox failed in Japan published last month, Eurogamer asked Microsoft for an update on the development of the game and was issued the following statement:
“Crimson Dragon on XBLA was initially slated for a June 13 2012 release in Japan, however the release has been delayed. We don't have a release date to share at this time, but we're excited about Crimson Dragon's progress, and we are continuing to work on it with the teams at Grounding and LandHo!”
Whether the demo's brief appearance on Xbox Live Japan indicates the game is close to release remains to be seen.
