Warframe's Shrine of Eidolon update launches this week, brings two new titan boss fights
Plus pilotable Dargyn flier, balance changes, more.
Warframe's latest free update, Shrine of Eidolon, launches on PC this week, developer Digital Extremes has announced.
Shrine of Eidolon further expands on Warframe's recently added open-world Plains of Eidolon map, adding two new boss encounters and a high-flying new method of transportation.
Warframe's new boss-stylee creatures are known as Eidolons - mysterious titans that wander the Plains "and loom over the people of Cetus". These, according to the game's lore, are fragments of the mighty Sentient, "a deformed creature, sent from some dark fold of distant space, crushing towers and citadels across Earth...".
The Plains of Eidolon map is already home to one titan - the Teralyst, which rises from the water every night - and the update introduces the Gantulyst and the Hydrolyst.
The Gantulyst "wields an enormous boulder for an arm and radiates powerful beams of Sentient energy". The Hydrolyst, meanwhile, is a "an omen of impending natural disaster. Stories describe a distinct, pungent aroma that precedes the arrival of this toxic beast."
Players can summon the new titans (which both make appearance in the trailer above) and attempt to best them in battle. Victors will receive a Riven Transmuter - a consumable item that can transmute four Riven Mods of the same type into a brand-new Riven of that type.
Warframe's Shrine of Eidolon update also adds a new pilotable vehicle in the form of the Dargyn. These armoured fliers are a Warframe mainstay, ordinarily piloted Grineer enemy troopers. However, once the update lands, it'll be possible to hijack one and tear above the Plains of Eidolon in search of the game's newest titans.
The update also introduces major balance changes for certain Warframes and weapons, more details of which can be found on Digital Extremes' official Dev Workshop forum.
