Wii/DS "deserve" adventures
Deep Silver on Tunguska remake.
Deep Silver told Eurogamer this morning that both Wii and DS "deserve" more adventure games.
The publisher was speaking in the aftermath of its announcement that PC title Secret Files: Tunguska would be remade for Nintendo's platforms.
"We chose to do it for a couple of reasons. Firstly to explore the control methods of the Wii and DS, which we find very interesting, and secondly because we feel the platforms deserve this kind of game," the spokesperson told Eurogamer.
"I played Hotel Dusk: Room 215 on a train to London recently and it worked perfectly. I really like the idea of playing an adventure game on the way to work. It's much more difficult to interrupt what you're doing if a ticket inspector comes around and you're playing something like a racing game - it's really annoying."
The two new versions will feature the same story, albeit with different control methods, and it isn't yet known how well the graphics will stand up next to the impressive PC visuals.
The DS version is due out in the fourth quarter of this year, with the Wii title to follow in the first quarter of 2008.
Secret Files: Tunguska was released for PC last September. It's based around the mysterious and real explosion that devastated the remote Tunguska region of Siberia in 1908, detonating with atomic-like power so that it could apparently be seen as far away as London. Obviously such an event has lead to equally drastic theories emerging.
We found the game to be a very pretty and solid effort, but one that failed to really excel in any area. Perhaps it will stand out more convincingly on Wii and DS.
