Wind Waker HD's extra hard Hero Mode detailed
It's a cruel, heartless world.
If you're anything like me you probably love The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker to bits, but had one niggling issue with what's probably the best-looking Zelda game to date: It was too darn easy. Well rest assured that won't be a problem in its HD remake if you select its optional Hero Mode.
As detailed by USGamer, Hero Mode will be available from the start and it contains an extra difficult variant of The Wind Waker in which hearts aren't found in the environment or even by fallen foes. Instead, the only way to heal will be through potions and fairies. Additionally, enemies will deal double damage. Hardcore! Now let's hope Nintendo has finally implemented an option to disable that incessant beeping when you're low on health. A guy can dream, right?
Another new addition is the ability to move and shoot in first-person, unlike in the original game where your feet remained locked in place when aiming. You'll also be able to fine-tune your aim with the Wii U Gamepad's gyroscopic controls.
This HD remake will also contain a "Swift Sail" that speeds up your boat for those long treks across the seas. Players will also be able to leave messages, i.e. Miiverse comments and/or screenshots, in a bottle to be found by other players.
Finally, the end-game Triforce piece hunt has been trimmed down - five of the eight chunks can now be found and claimed instantly, Kotaku added. Only three need you to track down Tingle to translate their maps.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be out on Wii U on 4th October in Europe.
