Witcher 2 Xbox 360 goes on sale early at Tesco
UPDATE: Namco Bandai asks supermarket to pull game off shelves.
UPDATE: Namco Bandai has been in touch to say it's reminded Tesco of The Witcher 2's street date and asked for the game to be pulled off of shelves.
ORIGINAL STORY: You can buy The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 from Tesco right now - four days before its official release date.
We received reports from gamers who were able to pick up the sprawling role-playing game from the UK supermarket giant today. It was officially due to go on sale on Tuesday next week.
We popped along to our local Tesco megastore, in Hove, and sure enough, it sold us a copy. The picture below is of the game on the store shelf - it's fifth in the chart what?
And here's another picture, this time of our receipt, you know, just in case. Tesco Hove is now sold out of Witcher 2, so you'll have to try elsewhere if you want your copy in time for the weekend.
The only explanation we can think of is that Tesco thought the game was due out today, given retail games tend to go on sale on Friday in the UK. We've asked publisher Namco Bandai and Tesco for comment.
