Wycombe Wanderers legend Adebayo Akinfenwa gets FIFA 20 Ultimate Team hero card - with 99 physicality

Beast mode.

Wycombe Wanderers legend Adebayo Akinfenwa is now a FIFA 20 Ultimate Team hero card - and it's got an incredible 99 physicality.

Akinfenwa is an English football cult hero, and is famous within the FIFA community for being Ultimate Team's strongest player. In FIFA 20, Akinfenwa's base card has 97 strength, putting him ahead of Aston Villa striker Wesley, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku, who each have 95 strength.

The veteran striker hit the headlines earlier this month after helping his club secure promotion to the Championship by beating Oxford United at Wembley. In his post-match interview, Akinfenwa called on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to celebrate with him on WhatsApp. Klopp was game, and offered his congratulations in a video message that went viral.

Now, EA Sports has rewarded Akinfenwa for his heroics with an Ultimate Team hero card - and it's pretty incredible.

Hero cards are one-offs dished out for players who achieve something remarkable. They include boosted stats, and that's certainly what Akinfenwa has enjoyed here. His hero card has 99 strength and 99 physicality - the highest rating possible for each category. For reference, Akinfenwa's base card in FIFA 20 has 97 strength and 81 physical.

Of course, the card is weak in other areas. Akinfenwa has a low/low work rate, which isn't surprising given he's nearly 40 years old. And he's only got 60 pace, so don't expect him to sprint past a defender or track back. But! Do expect him to receive the ball with his back to goal, bully a defender and blast the ball into the back of the net.

Akinfenwa's hero card is a gimmick, of course - but I imagine it will be popular this week as FUT players let their hair down at the back end of FIFA 20's life.

Hero Akinfenwa!!!! from r/FIFA

Akinfenwa sounded delighted at the news in a tweet. And expect to see him in FIFA 21 - Akinfenwa signed a one-year contract extension at Wycombe following their promotion to the Championship.
