xCloud is joining Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on 15th September
Will feature 100+ streamable games at launch.
Microsoft's xCloud game streaming service will be made available as part of the company's Game Pass Ultimate on 15th September.
Game Pass Ultimate is Microsoft's top-tier Game Pass offering, bundling together subscription access to a sizeable range of PC and console games, as well as Xbox Live Gold, special member discounts, and perks. Come 15th September, however, that will be expanded to include over 100 games that can be streamed via xCloud to Android phones and tablets.
Additionally, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have to access their Xbox friends list, achievements, controller settings, and saved progress once they've downloaded the official Xbox Game Pass app to their mobile devices.
Microsoft says its full xCloud-enabled catalogue will be detailed closer to release, but has confirmed the likes of Destiny 2, Sea of Thieves, Minecraft Dungeons, Gears 5, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Life is Strange developer Dontnod's Tell Me Why will all be streamable on launch day (a longer list is available below). Furthermore, starting 15th September, all Xbox Game Studios titles will be streamable from day one of their release.
Xbox One Bluetooth Wireless and PlayStation 4 DualShock controllers will be supported for streaming, and Microsoft says it's teamed up with Razer, PowerA, 8BitDo, and NACON to release a number of other cloud gaming accessories, including travel controllers, clips, and controllers that can be split and attached to a phone.
Microsoft is classing xCloud's September launch as a "beta", and it'll initially be available as part of Game Pass Ultimate in 22 countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This, it says, is to "ensure stability as we scale the feature to millions of gamers."
Those new to Game Pass Ultimate can currently get the first month for £1. The standard version of Game Pass is £7.99 a month on console and £3.99 on PC, where the service is still in beta.
