Yakuza 2 finally heading to Europe
It'll be out sometime this year.
SEGA has finally decided that it will release Yakuza 2 in Europe sometime this year.
The PS2-exclusive has been out in Japan since December 2006. It was well received and scored a whopping 38 out of 40 in Famitsu.
The delay to the Western release has been attributed to poor sales of the original in Europe and the US, which occurred despite the critical acclaim the game received in both territories.
Yakuza is a third-person action title based around the Japanese organised crime outfit of the same name. It challenges you with going from nobody to somebody by doing naughty things.
The sequel picks up a year after the original and sees protagonist Kiryuu Kazuma forced out of his newly found peaceful life to prevent war breaking out across Japan.
SEGA recently released its third Yakuza game for PS3 in Japan. It goes back in time to feudal Japan and the story begins when a girl approaches your peaceful identity and asks you to kill your hidden samurai identity. Tricksy.
Yakuza 3 (or Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! In Japan) received a meaty 37 out of 40 from Famitsu. There is no word on a Western release for it just yet.
