You can already unlock a gun in Red Dead Redemption 2 by playing GTA Online

Red Dead Redemption 2 won't be out until spring 2018 but you can already unlock a gun in the cowboy game via Grand Theft Auto Online.
The Double-Action Revolver is rewarded in GTA Online for following a trail of clues begun by an in-game email on your iFruit device. Once you find the gun, you then need to use it to complete a Headshot Challenge in Freemode to "unlock it for future gun-slinging exploits in Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One", said Rockstar.
The Double-Action Revolver arrives alongside the new, three-act, Doomsday Heist in GTA Online, which brings the Mammoth Thruster personal jetpack to the game! There's a futuristic tank and all sorts of upgrades for existing weaponry too - and much, much more.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a prequel to RDR 1, and follow outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rampage their way across rugged America. We've had a couple of trailers so far and they've shown a wonderfully detailed game world - so detailed, in fact, even the horse's testicles bounced believably. For some reason we felt compelled to make a video about it.
We don't know when in the spring Rockstar intends to release Red Dead Redemption 2, but Red Dead Redemption 1 arrived in May so perhaps that's a good indication.
