You can play StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void's prologue now
If you pre-purchase.
If you pre-purchase StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void you can play three prequel missions now.
Legacy of the Void is a standalone expansion for Blizzard's real-time strategy game and the conclusion of the StarCraft 2 "saga". It's due out "by winter", Blizzard said.
The Whispers of Oblivion prologue includes three missions featuring Dark Templar Zeratul that bridge the storyline between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
It's worth noting that Whispers of Oblivion will be available to everyone free of charge before Legacy of the Void comes out. It's also worth noting that if you pre-purchase digitally or pre-order at a shop you get entry into the ongoing beta test.
Legacy of the Void has a £29.99 standard edition, a £44.99 digital deluxe edition and a £59.99 physical Collector's Edition, the latter of which includes digital bonuses, a special edition of the upcoming full-colour hardcover StarCraft Field Manual, a DVD with cinematics and other features, and a CD soundtrack.
The in-game bonuses, available in both the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Collector's Edition, are unlocks for other Blizzard games that go live when Legacy of the Void comes out. Here's the list:
- Archon battle pet ready to join your side in World of Warcraft
- Void Seeker mount to charge through the Nexus in Heroes of the Storm
- Protoss card back to demonstrate your psionic potential in Hearthstone
- Protoss-themed portraits and unit skin for StarCraft 2
Oh, and anyone who buys or pre-purchases any edition of the expansion gets a yet-to-be-revealed StarCraft Warrior Hero for use in Heroes of the Storm.
Meanwhile, Heart of the Swarm, the first expansion for StarCraft 2, is now available as a standalone game.
