The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD enhancements detailed
Autosave! Skippable cutscenes! Less Fi!
Nintendo has released a trailer detailing the handful of enhancements coming to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.
(No, it hasn't patched in a proper overworld.)
Instead, expect Fi the sword spirit to pop up less often (this is very welcome), the game to bother you with item notifications less frequently (also welcome), and for game progress to be saved automatically, in addition to manual saves.
Skyward Sword HD will run at 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch, let you speed up text dialogue and opt out of the game's tutorials.
The only change I'm surprised by is the option to completely skip Skyward Sword's cutscenes. One of the things the Wii adventure does very well is build up the series' story and its incarnations of Zelda and Link (and Groose). Those are all well worth a watch.
One other change not shown in the trailer above is the one that will require the £25 Zelda: Skyward Sword Loftwing amiibo. When tapped to your Nintendo Switch, the NFC figurine lets you zip between the game's sky world and Hyrule's surface, wherever you are - even in dungeons.
Skyward Sword HD will launch for Nintendo Switch on 16th July. The still-untitled Breath of the Wild sequel will then follow in 2022.
