Moldarach Lanayru Mining Facility boss strategy in Zelda: Skyward Sword explained
Like the previous boss battles, your fight against Moldarach in Skyward Sword is divided into two stages, which you can survive using the following strategies:
Stage One
The first stage of the Moldarach boss battle is pretty simple - you need to hit the eyes held within its claws with Link's sword.
To do this, match the angle of your sword swings with the direction Moldarach is holding its claws; if, for example, a claw is horizontal, then you need to perform a horizontal swing upon it.
After a successful swing, switch to the other claw as Moldarach recovers. Just make sure you avoid Moldarach's own attacks or else it will grab hold of Link!
Keep attacking the eyes until the claws fall off and the second stage of battle begins.
Stage Two
During the second stage of the battle, Moldarach will bury itself within the sand and you'll have to use the Gust Bellows to dig it out. Thankfully, it's quite easy to spot Moldarach, because it's large body will create a moving hump beneath the sand.
Just watch out for the Aracha which you may uncover!
If you leave Moldarach untouched beneath the sand for too long, it will attack you using its tail. Out of the sand, it will attack by charging towards you and swinging its tail around.
When you free Moldarach from the sand, you need to attack its remaining eye. Due to how small this eye is, this task can be quite difficult, but we found that forward sword thrusts are the best way to finally kill Moldarach.
