The promising-looking Space Hulk: Deathwing just got a 17 minute gameplay video
For the Emperor!
Space Hulk: Deathwing, the promising Warhammer 40,000 game from Streum On Studio, is out soon, and so we have a 17 minute gameplay video showing of the solo campaign.
In the video, below, we see the player assume the role of a Dark Angels Librarian who, alongside his Terminator squadmates, explores a creaking Space Hulk packed with horrible Genestealers.
To my eye, Streum On Studio has nailed the claustrophobic atmosphere of the Space Hulk boardgame, and it's done a great job of recreating the look and feel of a Terminator marine. I like the weightiness of movement, the punchiness of the bolter fire and the crackle of Psyker powers.
What I don't like the look of is the Terminator chatter, which sounds as if it could do with some variation and extra effects. I'm also worried that killing endless waves of Genestealers will end up feeling repetitive sooner rather than later.
Overall, though, I'm looking forward to giving Space Hulk: Deathwing a shot. It's out on PC on 9th December. A console version is due out early 2017.
