How to beat the Ring Magma Wyrm Makar in Elden Ring
Liurnia of the Lakes boss tips and strategy.
Magma Wyrm Makar might be an optional boss in Elden Ring, but it can still put up one hell of a fight.
The optional boss can be found near the northern reaches of the Lake of Liurnia section of Elden Ring, and you'll have to battle it to the Ruin-Strewn Precipice to face off against the creature.
While you can take on Magma Wyrm Makar solo, we'd advise using some jolly co-operation for the tough fight ahead, or even a a spirit ash summon to help you on your way to slaying the boss.

How to prepare for Magma Wyrm Makar
As you might have guessed from the name, Magma Wyrm Makar deals in fire-based damage. To this end, you'll definitely want to kit yourself out in gear that offers large protection from fire-based damage.
However, don't sacrifice your physical protection entirely in favour of fire protection rating, because the Magma Wyrm Makar can hit incredibly hard with its tail and hands.
Additionally, we'd recommend bringing a strong melee weapon for this fight. Although ranged attacks with something like the Glintstone Pebbles are a perfectly viable option, they'll take a long time to get the job done, whereas it's far quicker to lay into the Magma Wyrm Makar with a powerful two-handed weapon.
Magma Wyrm Makar tips: How to beat Magma Wyrm Makar
Fighting Magma Wyrm Makar requires a fair bit of patience, and a keen eye for dodging through attacks.
Magma spews forth from the mouth of the beast, although thankfully any magma-based attack, like when Magma Wyrm Makar shoots a fireball over a distance from its mouth, are heavily telegraphed by the mouth of the boss glowing a fierce orange.
Magma Wyrm Makar loves to breathe fire down either side of it if you're hanging around its hind legs. If the boss turns its head towards you to look back on itself, immediately back away, because you're about to get a face full of lava.
The boss can charge its mouth up slightly, pausing for a second before it storms forward on all fours.
Keep well away from the boss during this phase, as it'll leave a trail of magma behind it, and you'll also immediately take damage if you come into contact with it no matter where you're positioned.
The Magma Wyrm Makar likes to swing its tail and front arm around during this phase, so prepare to dodge roll through the tail attack if you see its tail bend while you're behind it, and also get ready to roll if you see it raise its weird forearm with the stone blade-like curve.
Speaking of, this blade's about to get hot. When you've got Magma Wyrm Makar down to roughly half health, it'll breathe fire on its blade to light it up, and it'll often hold this blade above its head and bring it crashing down onto you from above.
Make sure to dodge roll forward through this attack when it's hurtling down at you, to give yourself the best chance possible of dodging it entirely.
Finally, the Magma Wyrm Makar can spew lava fourth from its mouth when its stood on its hind legs. If it suddenly recoils, back away from the boss, because the lava it spews immediately in front of it creates a pool that travels to the back of the boss, catching out anyone who's laying into it there.
What you really want to try and do with Magma Wyrm Makar is lay into it from behind with a powerful melee weapon whenever possible.
It's possible to stagger this boss for a huge visceral attack, so we'd recommend laying into the boss with a quick attack or two, before moving on when it inevitably moves.
Magma Wyrm Makar reward
With the Magma Wyrm Makar down, you'll gain 18,000 Runes, the Magma Wyrm's Scalesword, and finally a Dragon Heart.
The former is a hefty two-handed weapon, while the latter can be taken to the Dragon Communion island in the Limgrave region and exchanged for a dragon-related spell.
Now that the fight is over, it's time to explore the Atlus Plateau region of Elden Ring. Defeating this boss will have opened up an entirely new region for you, one that's teeming with enemies and bosses alike.
