Shovel Knight is getting two more free campaigns
Along with a competitive multiplayer Battle Mode.
Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games already went above and beyond by creating the wonderful free DLC Plague of Shadows, which added an entirely new campaign where players assume the role of former baddie Plague Knight. Sure it recycled most of the levels from the original game, but it featured an entirely different move set, altered stages, and even added an all new story to make sense of this alternate perspective adventure. It arguably set a new standard for free add-ons.

Digital Foundry | Zelda: Breath of the Wild pushes Wii U hardware to the limit
Digital Foundry goes hands-on with Nintendo's most technologically ambitious project to date.
Drawing perhaps the longest queue in E3 history, it's fair to say that The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild was quite the crowd pleaser at the show last week. It's no surprise either - fans have been patiently awaiting the release of a new Zelda title on Wii U for years and having spent hands-on time with the game, not to mention poring over all available media, the reasons behind the lengthy development cycle become clear.

Video | Watch: We talk to Cliff Bleszinski about LawBreakers
Console versions, microtransactions and comparisons to Overwatch.
I'm not a fist bumper. I just want to get that out of the way early on before you see me awkwardly fist bump Boss Key Productions co-founder, Cliff Bleszinski, at the end of this interview. Apparently, it's his thing. He fist bumps people, rather than shaking hands, to avoid picking up the flu at shows like E3.

Recommended | Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE review
Live from Shibuya.
There are a lot of things I want in life. World peace, an end to poverty, chilli sauce of noticeable heat in every McDonalds, and for every teenager to live like the protagonists of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. Because this is a beautiful place, full of beautiful people and beautiful music, and friends who go on to become superstars without ever losing that kernel of everyman affability. Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a celebration, and it rightly should be. If a crossover between Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei, a top-shelf JRPG native to the Wii U, cannot delight in its own existence, I don't know what can.

Gwent has a cool idea to combat card pack RNG
Pack it in.
A lot of collectible card games let you buy and open card packs. It's a fun mechanic, but one of the issues with the system is its randomness. Most of the time you get a load of cards you either don't want - or already have.

Feature | Watch Dogs 2: "There are no towers"
Ubisoft says you can get away with barely touching the story.
If you've ever played a Ubisoft open world game then you'll know the score. Assassin's Creed features towers to climb which unlock missions around you. Far Cry features towers which, again, unlock missions around you. And - guess what - Watch Dogs 1 features towers which unlock missions around you.

Imperial mint.
After pumping over 60 hours into DICE's Star Wars Battlefront, I should finally admit that I've quite enjoyed this wilfully simple brand of multiplayer shooting, dressed up with all the bells and whistles and thwomping lasers you'd expect of a premium licensed product. Sometimes, it's just lovely to play something that's positively mindless, especially when it does such a grand job of swaddling you in nostalgia with its handsomely realised dioramas and sumptuous aesthetic. Battlefront's not a great game - far from it - but it's a perfectly good one.

Burnout fore.
Burnout - from Takedown onwards, at least - was always defined by its focus, its unshakeable sense of what it was, and what it should be doing with its players. This was a driving game in which driving badly rewarded you with the magic juice that allowed you to drive even more badly. And when you finally crashed - from all that bad driving you'd been doing - you realised that there was nothing remotely final about this kind of crashing. Rather, you ascended on impact, shifting from the status of car to the status of holy wreckage - wreckage you could steer through wonderfully thick, staticky air, and then barrel into your oncoming enemies as the sparks slowed to become individual twills of golden confetti.
