And it works.
Stalactites hang from the ceiling while stalagmites grow from the floor. Every few months I have to look this up again, because I can never get the distinction fixed in my head - and because games just love stalactites. (Even now, it wouldn't surprise me if I've gotten it wrong.)

Review | Devil's Third review
Don't settle for bronze.
A game can be a mediocrity but, when it is developed by talent, that can seem like tragedy. Video | Video: Introducing Low Batteries, a series about mental health and gaming
New episodes every few weeks or so.
I love video games. I also suffer from depression and anxiety. Digital Foundry | Digital Foundry vs Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
Fenix from the frames.
Just how does one tackle remaking one of the most visually influential games of the last decade? It's a difficult question and one that developer The Coalition - along with partner Splash Damage - seeks to answer with the release of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One. The original Gears of War had a tremendous impact on the industry as a whole both in terms of the development process and its game design. Visually, as Epic's first outing with Unreal Engine 3, Gears was a landmark release for real-time rendering. Re-envisioning such a game on new hardware is no small task - so just how successful is this latest effort?
