Digital Foundry | Unreal Engine 4 Demo: PlayStation 4 vs. PC
An Epic comparison.
Last week's GDC reveal of Unreal Engine 4 running on PlayStation 4 hardware gave us a revised look at 2012's Elemental PC demo - at the time operating on Core i7 in combination with Nvidia's powerful GTX 680 - and after the dust settled we were curious to see how the two renditions compared directly. This should give us some idea of the ways in which Epic has reshaped its code to better suit the new console platform. Of course, it's early days and UE4 in itself is still in development, but the question remains - to what extent can PS4 match up to a top-end PC?

Review | The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct review
Run, you fools.
When I first read The Walking Dead, it hit me like a freight train. The comic was then around 50 issues in (it's recently topped 100 and counting). Its unblinking black-and-white style was one thing, but its take on the zombie apocalypse was an original take on a genre that then, as now, feels like a setting deadened through repetition. Even today, its gritty melodrama feels fresh, one of those few creations that transcends an often trashy genre - the reason it ended up as primetime TV.

Creepy Watson to return in Sherlock Holmes' Crimes & Punishments
The popular Youtube video inspires a feature.
Back in 2008 Youtube user tdous made history with a brilliant horror comedy video entitled "Creepy Watson," which had some fun with the peculiar AI in Sherlock Holmes Nemesis. In order to ensure that Watson was always following the player, developer Frogwares made it so he'd teleport behind them. When set to the right music, this lead to some hilarious hijinks as Watson would constantly startle the player by eerily appearing right in front of them.

Digital Foundry | Face-Off: BioShock Infinite
Rapturous.
Released to immense critical acclaim, BioShock Infinite is a masterclass in game design, combining fast-paced action with impressive AI characters, driven by an intriguing storyline that forms an utterly compelling experience far more ambitious in scope than its predecessors. From a graphical perspective, the game may fail to rival visual showcases like Crysis 3, but its core technology is a perfect match for the game's artistic style, while the environmental and AI design brings the floating city of Columbia and its characters to life in unforgettable fashion.

Well, the man that does the voice, anyway.
Although Spring might not have arrived in any meaningful sense, I suspect a lot of people spent the long Easter weekend engaged in the traditional spring cleaning session nonetheless.
