Review | Conan
Macho man, randy savage.
I've just untied a female slave from a tree and she doesn't have much to cover her modesty. Her alarmingly inflated breasts are bouncing excitedly in the jungle air, while all that stands between the cruel elements and her delicate minnie-moo is a slender scrap of cloth roughly the size of a child's sock.

Interview | BioWare's Greg Zeschuk
More on Mass Effect from the boss himself.
Mass Effect is fast becoming one of the most anticipated games of this year. It's not surprising when you consider it's being developed by BioWare, the same studio which brought us Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. Not to mention the fact that it's looking superb, as we found out when we got the chance to go hands-on at a special preview event recently.

Review | Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights
Catch my drift.
Thrown into the lion's den of the Christmas 2007 line-up, Juiced 2 faces the exact same problem that the last one did: too much competition. Competitors which have raised their game considerably since Juiced battled it out with the big guns in the summer of 2005.

Review | Geon: Emotions
Time of the month?
Somebody has been working hard to make Geon: Emotions sound more enigmatic than it really is. Not content with letting the game's specifics hide within the vagaries of the abstract futuristic sports genre, the developer/ publisher/ PR agency has sought to further befuddle consumers with talk of gameplay based around 'playing to emotional strengths', 'using feelings to your advantage' and other such imprecise spin.

Review | Virtual Console Roundup
Sin and Punishment, Gradius 3 and Legend of Hero Tonma.
So, bye bye then, Hanabi Festival. You were a curious little experiment, not exactly brimming with festival atmosphere, though your bountiful gifts of cool Japanese games unseen on our shores were most welcome all the same. It's just a shame you had to sour the excitement slightly by bumping up the prices for no apparent reason. Regardless, the general idea is certainly one that should be encouraged and hopefully we'll see Nintendo refining it further in the years to come.

Review | FIFA 08
0-0. Extra time being played.
Let's rewind twelve months. ‘Watch your back, Konami' was the ominous warning that rounded off our review of FIFA 07, a statement fuelled by a belief that after years of churning out identikit pap, EA had finally taken the hint that tacking on a novelty feature onto the previous year's game and slapping it onto the shelves was no longer a recipe for global domination. Having had its nose blooded by the mesmerising Pro Evolution Soccer series, FIFA 07 was an attempt to bite back. But it wasn't quite enough. Now, FIFA has returned, refocused, leaner, hungrier and eager to retake the crown that PES swiped off its cocky head a few seasons ago.

Review | Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars
Time takes its toll.
Some things age well: fine wines, antique furniture, Michaela Strachan. Others don't: breast implants, Yop, corpses. Crazy Taxi, sorry to report, belongs in the latter category.

A handy digest.
This week will always belong to Halo 3, which launched in the US and Europe to astonishing success - probably because MacGyver was on board. The game predictably broke sales records, and was celebrated by Microsoft giving away freebies to Live Gold members, shadowed by the emergence of a new live action short from director on the payroll Neill Blomkamp.

Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction
Triggers happy memories.
What's the most surprising thing about the first PS3 instalment in the Ratchet & Clank series? It's not the return to the classic platforming-shooting-collecting gameplay of the first three games. It's not, whatever the hype might say, because it's exactly like playing a Pixar film. Because it isn't, as even Insomniac will admit. It's this: Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction makes use of the Sixaxis controller's motion-sensing capabilities in a way that isn't completely rubbish.
