Feature | PES vs. FIFA
Having seen the new FIFA, Tom and Rich consider its impact.
Now, I'm not N'Gai Croal, and Rich Melville's not Stephen Totilo. In fact, we don't really know who those people are - we just got sent this link and they sound important. But while we'd like to say today's good-humoured squabble over the relative merits of Pro Evolution Soccer and the latest FIFA is inspired by their antics, we're going to go with the real explanation: EA and our publisher thought it was a good idea, and when we started talking about it we sort of agreed.

If this is evil, I don't want to be good.
With my all-conquering horde of faithful goblin servants at my heels, carrying with them the spoils of their recent pillaging rampage through a nearby halfling village, I have returned to the idyllic hamlet of Spree. Despite my terrifying visage, replete with spiky helmet, giant axe, flowing blood-red cloak and aforementioned horde of goblin minions, the villagers appear to have seen fit to lock me - me, the very embodiment of evil in the land! - out of the town.

Somewhat oblivious.
You're on an urgent quest to rescue your beloved sister from a shadowy cabal of powerful men who are holding her hostage for your co-operation in their nefarious scheme. The long-lost powers of an ancient god are being brought into the world once more, emboldening marauding orcs in their raids on the kingdoms of man. As the unwilling hero at the centre of this maelstrom, your quest could not be more important.

Very shiny and unusual, as swords go.
As a child brought up with a good old-fashioned Catholic education, one of my fondest memories of school is of a harassed teacher desperately attempting to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity to a class of confused, bored and surprisingly cynical ten-year-olds. It all just sounded so awkward, having three aspects to one divine being; practical concerns were raised involving such matters as privacy when going to the toilet (also a common theme when the question of omnipotence was addressed shortly afterwards) or remembering who was meant to be doing what. Having one body per being, our ten year old minds reasoned, simply made a lot more sense, and that was that.

Podcasts, too.
EA has confirmed the return of the Interactive Leagues feature in the next version of FIFA. City of Heroes / Villains - Issue 7
The eternal fight against crime gets more eternal.
I've been at many press conferences. I've seen thousands of my peers doing everything short of throwing handfuls of their own bodily fluids in the air in an E3 Microsoft press conference when it's revealed that Halo 2 will feature DUAL WIELD WEAPONS. I've seen men now powerful and senior in the world of games interrupt the gushing announcement of a new Civ game where the core Firaxis men are talking about wanting to do this for the love of the fans by loudly coughing "Bollocks - you're doing it for the money". But this is the first time I've been at a press conference in the body of an enormous robot/lizard hybrid.

Superman-size issues.
We haven't talked about City of Heroes for a while now. Even with an MMO in development stasis, that leaves whole stories untold.
