Digital Foundry | Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves - an accomplished but unambitious PC port
PS5 comparisons and those all-important optimised settings.
Naughty Dog's Uncharted has finally arrived on PC in the form of The Legacy Collection, bringing together Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy in a double-pack, initially enhanced for PlayStation 5 earlier in the year and now finally available for PC. As is the custom, Digital Foundry will be telling you what the settings actually do, which ones to choose for the most optimal experience and also stacking up Iron Galaxy's port against the reference PlayStation 5 version. There's a lot to like in this conversion and the quality of Naughty Dog's work remains intact, but equally, there's a sense that PC should be delivering more.

An hour with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet suggests they might be too vast for their own good
Lechonky.
If nothing else, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet certainly feel big. I recently played Scarlet for a little over an hour, dropped in by my home village with a team of Pokémon around level 25 - made up entirely of newcomers like Cetaitan, Wiglett, Farigiraf, Armorage and Bellibolt - and given a choice of three tasks. I could take on a gym battle on the Victory Road story path, battle the titan Pokémon Klawf on the Path of Legends, or take on some Team Star grunts and a boss fight in the Starfall Street path. In the space of an hour I managed to do almost none of that, instead getting distracted, lost, allured and slightly baffled by Pokémon's first properly open world.

God of War Ragnarök feels like everything you'd expect - but is there more?
A Loki start teases giant action to come.
Is there a more God of War place than Svartalfheim? Certainly not from what I've seen so far. I've played just a few hours of God of War Ragnarök, much of the rest remaining chained up and locked down under embargoes (and I suspect you wouldn't want me spoiling them anyway). But I can talk quite freely about this place, and I'd love nothing more.

Feature | Resident Evil 4's remake is surprisingly bold while reassuringly familiar
What are ya buyin'?
It's been a hot topic of late about when a classic game is ripe for a remake, but given how Resident Evil 4 seems to have been rolled out for re-release in one shape or another almost annually since it first appeared in 2005 it feels like a special case. There was a waggle-enhanced Wii version, HD versions for the Xbox 360 and PS3, mobile versions for Android and iOS and VR versions for Oculus Quest - by this point, Capcom's iconic survival horror feels as ubiquitous as Skyrim.

Digital Foundry | Gotham Knights is a poor effort with a range of technical issues
And the 30fps cap is just the tip of the iceberg.
Gotham Knights has some big shoes to fill as a follow-up to the brilliant Batman Arkham Knight, an early last-gen title that pushed graphical and gameplay boundaries. Even today, the Rocksteady game impresses with a gritty, rain-soaked rendition of Gotham City swarming with criminals. Unfortunately, Gotham Knights fails to hit the same heights from a gameplay perspective, while there are big questions about its technical make-up. Why limit performance to 30 frames per second? Why were the last-gen versions cancelled with little technical ambition here? And after Arkham Knight, how come the game looks visually underwhelming?
