Our UK release date list has been updated again with the latest information from UbiSoft. Several of their titles have slipped by a week or two, and we also have release dates for a few new titles including Infestation and Arcatera.

VRMagazine have released the third and final part of their free texture pack. Although the textures were designed with Quake 3 in mind, they should be usable in most other first person shooters as well.

I spotted over on Barrysworld that NTL have updated their roll-out schedule for introducing the technological marvels of cable modems to this wonderful third world country that I live in [That's Britain - sarcasm Ed.].

The folks at Challenge.AU sent us word that the biggest LAN in Australia yet, the Razer Big Day In, will be taking place this weekend. The demo for "Star Trek : Klingon Academy" has been released, giving all you wannabe starship commanders the chance to take control of a Klingon Bird of Prey and blow up some of those soft-hearted Federation do-gooders. The official website for Dungeon Siege, the RPG from Gas Powered Games, has now launched with information about and screenshots from the game.

UbiSoft just sent word that they will be publishing "In Cold Blood", the latest game from British developer Revolution, of "Broken Sword" fame. The game is due in September, and puts you in the boots of a British secret service agent called John Cord.

John from GA-Source informed me that Eidos Interactive have confirmed that they are currently developing a sequel to their third-person action adventure "Soul Reaver", tentively entitled Soul Reaver 2. This upcoming sequel will once again be developed by Crystal Dynamics and the game is slated for a Christmas 2000 release (although a 2001 release is a possibility). Virgin sent over these two rather fetching screenshots from the 3D turn-based tactical combat game, "The Dreamland Chronicles : Freedom Ridge", which Virgin recently announced they were publishing in the UK.

BT had both good and bad news for British internet users this week... First the good news - for £9.99 a month you can now get unmetered internet access at evenings and weekends with BT Internet. Now the bad news - ADSL trials are going to grind on for another three months, which means you won't be able to buy ADSL until June or July at the earliest.

An official website has opened for a multiplayer patch for SWAT3, which is expected in August and will be available for download or as part of an expansion pack, Battle Plan, which will also include six new missions for the game.

Brian Reynolds, the real brains behind classic turn-based strategy games such as Civilization 2, has resurfaced after his recent departure from long-time partner Sid Meier's company, Firaxis. His new company is called Big Huge Games, includes a few other former Firaxis employees, and will be making a real time strategy game.

Jake Simpson, programmer on Raven Software's upcoming first-person shooter, Soldier of Fortune just updated his .plan with a little Soldier of Fortune development update. According to Jake, SoF is looking very solid so the game will be out soon, hopefully.

The demo version of the SOG mod for Quake 2 has been released. For those of you who haven't heard of it before, the mod is the work of the team behind the (in)famous Generations mod that was shut down by id Software for legal reasons. The SOG demo includes three characters and twelve new maps for those of you still playing Quake 2...

The Q3Fortress team sent word that their TF-inspired Quake 3 mod is now in "closed-alpha" testing, with a public beta release coming soon. They've also released a new screenshot of the mod and some docs on the new entities from the mod.
