Just a little quick note before I hit the sack (really tired!), remember that the anticipated Unreal Tournament mod, Strike Force will be released tomorrow (the first beta atleast). Pyromancier, one of the guys behind this mod updated the official website with some information about the first beta, he also mentions that there will be a Mac release but only after the PC release is out. As for Bot Support ; bots are available in Strike Force, but only spawn with a Desert Eagle and play very poorly since they haven't been optimized. Proper Bot support will hopefully make it's way into Beta 2. Be sure to check us out tomorrow for a complete list of mirrors.

Review | Joytech Controller Plus
Third-party controller reviewed
Joytech Price: £19.99 Joytech is a name that frankly no-one's ever heard of. They produce accessories for home consoles, including the Playstation, N64 and Dreamcast, and they also run off a group of Gameboy Color bits and pieces. Their trademark seems to be to undercut the prices of official units and try and alter the design of the official ones slightly, for the better. Third party controllers never really appeal for me. The garish neon designs and fluorescent buttons just look out of place on my carefully laid out desk, and the controllers have a tendency to break, too, from experience. For example, I bought an official Super Nintendo controller a few years ago, and an unofficial model from some cowboy accessories outfit. The official model works, to this day, but the other unit is unresponsive and damaged. Not to mention blister-inducing. Still, you can't judge modern day products by yesteryear's standards. There's every chance that these companies will have learnt from their mistakes, and capitalised on the time in between. Probably.

The Battle Of The Bulge was the desperate attempt by Hitler to defeat the advancing Allied forces near the end of the war. The Allies had by then regained most of Europe, and were beginning to engage the retreating German army on their own soil.

Review | Resident Evil 2
Survival horror title reviewed
Admittedly I was worried about this port. Having sat through an exhibition of how great the game was by my PSX-owning mate (that's as in "friend", not sexual in any way, you understand... erm...) several thousands of times, I wasn't entirely sure how the hugeness was going to fit into the little plastic thing. Still, wonders will never cease with this magic box of...magic...things. Anyway, all my fears were soon expelled (like a big Odour-Eater had come into the room and stamped gratuitously all over them) when I started up the console, jumped straight into the game and was mesmerised by what appeared to be a five minute long segment of FMV... on the Nintendo. FMV. Nintendo. Five minutes. This was superb, and I was amazed. Either I've been missing out on something, seeing as I was a late starter with the Nintendo and all, but I was truly astounded, I really didn't think this was possible. The short movie was the same as the one placed in the PSX version, and what the superbly rendered piece does is to set the scene perfectly, and before you even start to play the game the tentacles start to reach out of the screen and pull you into into the game's sick little world. But then I realised what Capcom had done to fit all this stuff in the cart, as I noticed quite heavy artefacting on the video, and that familiar mp3-style "warbling" on the audio samples, both the remnants of heavy compression techniques. But without getting into the piddling technicalities, I was still pretty excited by the time the opening in-game scene began and I was plopped into a flaming scene surrounded by the brain-craving living-dead.
