Super Mario Odyssey Purple Pyramid locations - how to find Purple Triangles

  • Kingdom: Sand Kingdom
  • Total Coins: 100

Alongside the Metro Kingdom, the Wooded Kingdom and Bowser's Kingdom, the realm of Tostarena is one of the largest maps in the whole of Super Mario Odyssey. As such, the Regional Coins for this area are spread right across its rolling dunes. As with many other kingdoms in this game, we suggest completing the kingdom's story objectives first before attempting to find them all. The Regional Coins in the Sand Kingdom are inverted triangles.

Grab your first three coins from the off by bouncing on the yellow umbrella in front of the Crazy Cap store. Use this umbrella to reach the roof of the store, where there are six cleverly hidden coins to be found. There are four coins to be found floating in the fountain in this area, but you won't be able to collect them until you've beaten both bosses first (see our Walkthrough for a full guide).

There are a few more coins in the building to the right of the Crazy Cap store (on a low ledge), and three more on a ledge below where you collect the Power Moon called 'Overlooking the Town). There's also lots of Regional Coins to be found in the Tostarena Ruins. There's a cheeky trio hidden down the side of the main structure from where you enter the runs for the first time. Destroy the cactus ball to reach them.

There's also a whirlpool in the brown quicksand, near the 8-bit section on the wall. It looks like a trap, but it's actually the entrance to a secret level. Completing this ice level will grant you a Power Moon (The Treasure of Jaxi Ruins) and a checkpoint (Jaxi Ruins) but also five all important coins.

The first of these coins can be found on the far ledge a few moments into this secret level. The final two can be found after leaping over the smashing pillars (these have gold rings between them). Climb up to the high platform, then throw Cappy to reach them as you'll fall to your doom in the caverns below.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

When you do reach the Jaxi Ruins checkpoint, look down into the purple gloop swamp below and you'll see four coins spread across two islands. You can't reach them without a Jaxi, so use the one next to you to leap down and collect your prizes.

Want even more hidden coins? Of course you do. Using that same Jaxi (which is free, for a change) race into the gap at the bottom of the Jaxi Ruins tower and ride it down to a secret level below. Jump on the Jinx and ride it around to the right, collecting the three coins. Follow the route, pressing 'B' to break lots on corners.

Two more coins can be found to the far-right of the large area with platform in the middle. Now aim for the narrow rising bridge on the far-right side of this area. Use brakes to align the Jaxi, then head up and over, collecting the two coins on this bridge, follow it down, turn right then head onwards to claim your Power Moon (Jaxi Driver).
