Super Mario Odyssey Purple Penny locations - how to find Purple Pennies in Super Mario Odyssey

  • Kingdom: Metro Kingdom
  • Total Coins: 100

Being one of the biggest kingdoms in the whole game - and one of the best to explore - the 100 coins of Metro Kingdom are spread far, wide and high. The coins in this region are in the shape of a coin with Mayor Pauline on the face.

Whether you're playing through the story objectives, or post-story, climb the girders to the right of where you start and you'll find three coins floating over a gap. Use Cappy to collect them safely. Use the Spark pylon to ride down to the Main Street Entrance and you'll find two coins in front of the house to your left (it has a taxi outside).

Use the yellow taxi as a trampoline and launch yourself onto the roof of the house where you previously collected two coins. You'll find three more coins to the left (behind a billboard). Jump up to the next platform and you'll find three more coins above a billboard on the next rooftop to your right.

Jump across to the next rooftop and drop down between the two large billboards. Two Regional Coins are hidden here. Don't worry about falling. You'll land on another billboard. Do some wall jumps to reach the rooftop and safety again.

Climb the billboard next to the one where you collected three of the previous coins and use the Pole to flick yourself across the street. Drop down from the ledge to the billboard below and collect the coins waiting for you on top. You can use a nearby Pole to flick yourself back up again.

From the Rooftop Garden checkpoint, drop down below where the Spark pylon is to reach three more coins on the ledge below. Drop down to the right, use the next Spark pylon to cross the street and collect the coins on the ledge on the other side of the building.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

Back on the roof, jump across to the building with the green ledge running around it. Run to the other side and collect the three coins floating next to the small water tower.

Back on the Rooftop Garden checkpoint, use the top Spark pylon to ride to the other building. Then use the Poke to reach the higher level. Climb to the top of this building (if you're playing post-story, Peach will be here). Flick across to the other building (where you collected the Trumpeter during the story) and drop down a ledge to collect three hard to reach Regional Coins.

From the Helipad checkpoint, run across the girders. On the opposite side of the building, you'll find three hidden coins for the purse. From the New Donk City Hall checkpoint, run to where the Spark pylon wires are, then drop down to collect three Regional Coins hidden on some steel grating.

In front of New Donk City Hall (with the building behind you) there's a tall building just to your left. There are three coins on a ledge that can either be reached from the roof off the building or by leaping off the Empire State-esque tower above city hall.
