How to reach the Waterblight Ganon boss fight

With the five terminals activated from the Vah Rudiana dungeon, you can reach the Main Control Unit outside on the Beast's back.

If you forgot how to get up there, head to the two blue torches where you first entered the dungeon and make sure the Beast is flat and flip the room, travel up the long slanted platform so you're outside. Flip the Beast so it's flat, then climb up the wall and along the back to the centre, where the Terminal is.

As with other bosses, it's worth travelling away to sleep in a soft or water bed, pack some status boosting recipes and getting the best weapons and armour you can (which aren't wooden) to set you up as best as you can.

How to beat the Waterblight Ganon boss

In the first phase, Fireblight Ganon will launch at you with huge, powerful - but slow - strikes.

A direct hit can kill you outright if you have a low amount of hearts, so the plan is to get really close so he can't hit you easily, and then side step round the back as he's preparing an attack and just go crazy with swipes.

Keep your shield raised whenever you're not attacking just in case he clips you, and when he launches into the air, lock on (or face towards him) and keep your shield raised to dodge the projectiles. This is a fairly simple phase, but you have to be careful as a single swipe and kill.

How to beat Waterblight Ganon boss fight's second phase

The second phase sees him launch into the air and create a huge fireball around him. After a few moments, he'll launch a huge fireball at you, which detonates with a huge radius upon impact. If you can, fire an arrow just as it's leaving him, or hide behind a pillar or the central control unit and keep at a fair distance to avoid the blast.

To damage him here, as he's sucking in air before the fireball, throw a Bomb rune and detonate it as it's circling round. He'll then drop to the ground. Now's a great time to get some easy damage in, so sprint and get in a few attacks.

It should be noted he can do this again in the next phase - launch into the air and launch a fireball - but all you need to do is destroy the fireball or take cover (no bomb throwing required) before he returns to the ground.

How to beat Waterblight Ganon boss fight's third phase

The third phase is similar to the opening, but with a more powerful flame sword that can cause the ground to catch on fire behind him. The same tactics apply - shield up at all times, keep moving, and try and get behind him and attack after he launches some swipes.

Those flames left behind can create gusts of wind, where if you like, you can glide upwards for to evade damage, or draw your bow for a headshot (which, on the ground is possible too if you want to daze him quickly). There will also be a laser attack, and if this happens, dash as fast you can out of the way.

After the Fireblight Ganon boss fight

When the battle has concluded, you'll be given a Heart Container - make sure you pick it up before you leave, or it is likely gone for good! - and a cutscene where you'll receive Daruk's Protection.

This is a new ability that as long as you're holding ZL (block) you'll defend against all kinds of attacks, and is useful to give you an extra layer of safety while exploring and fighting going forward. You get three charges, which all take some amount of in-game time to recharge.

After the cutscene, you'll arrive back in front of Goron City. Chat to Yubono just as you walk in, then continue on to the chief, Yubono, who will tell you the Vah Rudiana quest is complete.

He also asks you to check out the hut behind him for a weapon, the 60 strength Boulder Breaker. If you chat to him again, he'll explain if the weapon breaks you can always come back and visit Rohan the Blacksmith to help repair it.

From here, it's worth heading north to another Divine Beast - such as Vah Ruta, Vah Medoh and Vah Naboris - or you could pay a visit to the legendary sword Bludo hints at, the Master Sword, if you fancy going off the beaten path. If this is your final Beast, and you're ready, then it's time to Destroy Ganon and complete the game.
