Teslagrad is a 2D steampunk puzzle/platformer in the vein of Braid
"Keyboard-smashing, controller-chewing frustration," due in January.
Teslagrad, a 2D puzzle/platformer about altering the world with magnetic charges, is one of the better looking indie titles to catch my eye recently.

Failing Kung-fu Superstar Kickstarter proves hardcore gamers' "hatred" for motion control
As team disbands creator says UK launch has failed to combat "Kickstarter fatigue".
Kung-fu Superstar, the Kung-fu simulation game that fuses motion controls and traditional gamepad controls, launched a Kickstarter late last month with a fancy video and an endorsement from none other than Peter Molyneux himself. Now, with six days to go, only £31,000 has been raised - nearly £170,000 shy of the target.

Review | Ridge Racers
All is forgiven.
Ridge Racer isn't a driving game. It's more like a fairground ride with steering. A lot of these games have warnings on them which say things like, "Don't you dare do any of this stuff in real life because it might be dangerous." In Ridge Racer it should say, "Don't do this because YOU WILL DIE."

Review | TrackMania Sunrise review
I feel like marking it down for ruining my sleep patterns.
A wise friend once told me that you can try to be all things to all people, but in the end your heart shines through. He probably wasn't expecting me to recycle it in print, but it seems like the best way to summarise TrackMania Sunrise - a game whose lifeblood of racing is pumped by the heart of a puzzler.

Review | The Lord Of The Rings: Battle For Middle Earth 2
A nice big cave troll of an RTS.
This latest real-time enactment of the Middle Earth conflict is a healthy improvement on its predecessor. As the game of the film it has considerable inherited potential to work with, and while it might only have waded through the shallow edge of the genepool in its first iteration, it is now completely submerged - and growing stronger like an orc gestating in verdant sludge.

Review | Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend
A return to form, but only just.
Almost three years on from the Angel of Darkness debacle, Eidos knew it had a mammoth task on its hands to restore public confidence in a brand that had suffered the most humiliating critical backlash in years. Only Driv3r came anywhere near close in terms of a public mauling, and the indifferent commercial performance of Parallel Lines suggests that consumers aren't as forgiving as publishers might hope. What are the chances of Crystal Dynamics' debut Tomb Raider offering of turning the tide of ill will?

Review | Shadow Hearts: From The New World
Columbus must be turning in his grave...
Monsters. Gambling. Aliens. Magic. Gangsters. Pirates. Hot vampires. Guns hidden in guitars. Giant kung fu cats. On paper, this third instalment in the oft-overlooked Shadow Hearts series has everything. Unfortunately, though, that 'everything' includes a predecessor that was always going to take some beating. But while this interesting new RPG may not surpass the last game, it certainly gives it a run for its money in all the right areas.

Review | FlatOut 2
Clunk click, every trip.
Often the best ideas - or, at the very least, the most fun ideas - come from doing things wrong. How many people playing Turbo Esprit on the Spectrum actually bothered chasing down purple drug cars? And how many hurtled around the city, knocking stick men off ladders? Why did everybody with an Amiga own a copy of Indy 500? Was it for the lifelike recreation of the world's most tedious motorsport, or was it because you could drive backwards around the track and watch the ensuing pile up in slow motion replay?

Feature | Eurogamer Is Five Years Old!
And we're celebrating - by introducing you to some of our fondest recollections of the past few years of Eurogamer.net, and reeling off all manner of useless statistics.
Happy Birthday - to us! Five years ago, as ECTS '99 roared into life at Olympia in London, Eurogamer was born. Since then, we've all grown up rather a lot, some faces have changed (including the website's, several times), and we've played more games, broken more controllers, and written more words than most people will get through in an entire lifetime. And of course we've had more than our fair share of fun along the way - like trying to rig website award competitions. Have you voted for us in the Virtual Festival Web Awards yet?

Carmack likes to talk.

Review | Mass Effect 3: Omega review
Aria sure you want to buy it?
BioWare is trying something different with Mass Effect 3: Omega. After Leviathan, a story-fuelled race around the galaxy that wrapped revelatory new lore around dazzling locations and likeable characters, Mass Effect fans get the opposite. Omega is a dark, hard-fought slog through the belly of the dingy Mass Effect 2 space station. It rambles, it gets lost, and it ultimately feels weightless.
