    Clive Barker's Jericho

Clive Barker's squad based apocalyptic gore more like.

The chaps at Codemasters hope that Jericho will be the start of a longer term collaboration with Clive Barker. On the evidence of the most recent demonstration of the game, it looks like a collaboration that will get off to a good start. It's a game that basically consists of squad-based apocaplyptica, complete with generous gobs of viscera splattering the camera, plenty of wisecracking banter between squad-mates, a mysterious and baroque sense of gloom and plenty of glistening gun metal and fancy lighting effects penetrating the murky shadows for good measure.

Review | Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07

    Hole-in-one or albatrocity?

Golf is not the most accessible of sports and, in this, Tiger Woods on the Wii certainly achieves parity. Rather fittingly, most of your early attempts to play the ball fall short of the mark, or fly off into the woods. What's annoying about this is that it really needn't be the case.

    E3: Halo 3

We tour the first single-player level.

Following last night's sumptuous new Halo 3 trailer and live-action promo (you did watch both, right?), Microsoft sat us down in the alarmingly dark Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica to tour the first level of the single-player campaign. Picking up about a third of the way into the level (they didn't want to spoil anything), it took us through a wooded valley bristling with as much Covenant as flora, before opening onto a river battle involving a Phantom. Ironically, time concerns meant our compere wasn't able to finish the fight - but we still saw plenty.

    Interview | id Software

Todd Hollenshead and Tim Willits on technology, development, Manhunt and QuakeCon.

If you ask any PC gamer over a certain age to track their hobby through its most significant milestones, you can bet that at least one relates to id Software. For me it's more like half a dozen - the first time I loaded up the Quake shareware, my first network Quake experience, the Christmas morning I got Quake 2, playing it again on my first 3dfx card, Q3Test, actually managing to railgun Rupert more than once on Q3Tourney4. And I was a late developer. Apparently they made other games too. Doom or something. And let us not forget Dangerous Dave! Although that was Romero and Softdisk, really. But I'm getting off the point. Which is: id Software did more for PC gamers in the 1990s than virtually anyone.
