BT had both good and bad news for British internet users this week... First the good news - for £9.99 a month you can now get unmetered internet access at evenings and weekends with BT Internet. Now the bad news - ADSL trials are going to grind on for another three months, which means you won't be able to buy ADSL until June or July at the earliest.

Brian Reynolds, the real brains behind classic turn-based strategy games such as Civilization 2, has resurfaced after his recent departure from long-time partner Sid Meier's company, Firaxis. His new company is called Big Huge Games, includes a few other former Firaxis employees, and will be making a real time strategy game.

The man behind Threewave CTF, David "Zoid" Kirsch, announced in his .plan today that he is leaving id Software after three years working as a contract programmer for the company, producing Q2CTF and working on Linux ports of the Quake games amongst other projects.

Epic Games' anticipated Unreal Tournament bonus pack has finally been released, exclusively for Gamecenter. This free bonus pack features three new characters, 11 new multiplayer levels and the new 'Relics' system (similar to the Quake 'Runes'). It may only just have been released in the UK today, but the first patch for Battlezone II is now available. The patch (available from Activision here) is a meager 3Mb, and improves multiplayer support, fixes some controller problems, makes haulers haul more reliably, and "enables worldwide multiplayer gaming".

Finally some news about the upcoming Unreal Tournament bonus pack, apparently Gamecenter will team up with Epic Games to premiere the Unreal Tournament Bonus Pack today. This free bonus pack will feature three new skins, 11 new multiplayer levels and a new feature, Relics (similar to the 'Runes' in good 'ol Quake). GamePlay had posted the demos from the Razer-CPL event's official UK qualifier yesterday, but they were all just dumped into an ftp directory with no real idea of which was which. Now somebody with time to spare over at Barrysworld has sifted through them and posted an index of the demos here. They're still not quite sure which matches all of Billox's demos are from, but that should be added later...

I noticed over at CGO that Westwood Studios' anticipated Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun expansion pack, Firestorm has gone gold and is set to hit shelves in North America March 9th. This expansion pack will feature 18 new single-player maps, 15 new multiplayer maps, new options for the Battle Map creator and a bunch of new units.
